Hi there could anyone help

I am trying to build the Arduplane with the SITL build the instructions state the following...

make -f ../libraries/Desktop/Makefile.desktop
trouble is when I download the repository
git clone https://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/
the file and directory Desktop/Makefile.desktop do not exist, I notice though if i browse the git 
this is downloading the master folder, the Arduplane-release folder though does seem to contain 
the correct folder structure.
when I run the above command I get
devuser@ubuntu:~/sitl/ardupilot-mega/ArduPlane$ make -f ../libraries/Desktop/Makefile.desktop
make: ../libraries/Desktop/Makefile.desktop: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `../libraries/Desktop/Makefile.desktop'.  Stop.
can someone point out where I am going wrong here?
