Solar Hexacopter

I've been looking into making a "solar copter" because I prefer longer flight times.  I don't mean like solar panels attatched to a battery bank that then charges my copter, I mean solar panels on the copter that charge it as it flies.  There's obviously a ton of technical issues with the idea, but if anyone has any suggestions or links or previous experience I would be grateful.  You never know until you try.

  • First step would be to measure or estimate your power consumption, then calculate the surface area you would need to generate that power with about 20% conversion. Then take into account the extra mass associated with the solar sheets and associated power electronics.  Best solar sheets are from Alta.
