I have been looking all over the place to make sure I have the fail safe setting/s correct for my hexacopter.  I am using the Spektrum DX7s and AR800 with Satellite for my radio and receiver and Ardupilot Mega 2.5+.

My concern is I currently have a fail safe setting programmed on my DX7s.  I set it during the binding between the transmitter and receiver (AR8000 and Satellite) only. All settings go to neutral (Yaw, Aileron, Elevator) with exception of the throttle.  It drops to 1120.  I know it will drop like a brick, so there must be a better option.

From what I have read, my potential problem is a conflict between the Mission Planner fail safe settings and the DX7s fail safe.

Mission Planner Failsafe settings

FS Throttle = 1

FS Throttle Value = 975

NOTE:  The fail safe on the Spektrum DX7s goes to 1120 when the radio power is shut off per binding results.

I need some advice, or redirected to another discussion on the forum.

Thanks!

  • I confirmed my confusion between the DX7s and Throttle Failsafe within the Mission Planner.  With some testing, even though the throttle failsafe is active within the Mission Planner, it does not activate when the power is turned off the radio.  The fail safe settings from the DX7s, overrides the Mission Planner fail safe RTL settings.

What do I need to do?

    Thanks.
