Strange motor behavior

Hi,

I've assembled my quadcopter, calibrated the ESCs, set prop direction, and when I tried to fly it one of the motors didn't work. Here's a video showing the behavior.

The battery is fully charged. I tried to connect the faulty motor to another ESC, but the result is the same.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Thanks

  • Looks like one Phase is missing.

Could be bad soldering at the plugs or at the motorconnection.

Try to pull at the cables (not to hard!!) and watch the shrink hose. If it stretches, then there is the fault.

    An Ohm-Meter would be helpful

Dont try to give full throttle with this fault, it will burn your ESC.

  • are they cheap motors? i had 2 out of six motors dead out of the box, well not dead but running slow and stalling,

if the problem follows the motor when you move it around then it must be the motor

  • I am getting the same situation on my octo.  Each time I calibrate my ESC's I get a different motor stalling out or running slow.  I have tried the APM2 ESC calibration and the direct-to-receiver calibration. Both seem to calibrate properly.  As soon as I reboot the APM2 and Arm I get the same strange slow ESC's.  Not always the same motors running slow either.  Very strange...
