I was 5 metres of the ground with my octocopter. Just the raw frame, no cameras but 4.5kg and enough of crash to break 4 of the arms. It was hovering perfectly and then total power loss and whack onto grass. Could have been worse. A minute earlier it was up at about 50 metres.

I found out that the deans power connector had melted. Very weirdly the positive terminal on the female connector had sunken into the body of the connector to the point that it completely disappeared. Like sinking into quicksand, eventually losing the connection.

My question is - what has caused it? Is it a cheap Deans connector to blame or is it my electrical configuration that is badly designed. The set up is 2 x 3S 5000Mah batteries connected in series to create 6s power.

I have flown about 3 flights so far without any problem and then it failed. All other deans in the setup seem perfect. Just this one on the positive terminal of this Y-cable.

Any different approach I should take? Thanks for any ideas.
