If you have no money and do not use it around other people, get the Turnigy.
If you want to use a system that is safe regardless of others being in the same band and have the money, get the Spektrum.
Turnigy is a very basic system with so good features (and even more when upgraded by firmware) but it does not have the frequency robustness of the Spektrum or Futaba or other high end spread spectrum channel hopping encrypted do hikey.
Go for the turnigy 9x. I have a DX7 DX5 & Turnigy 9x. It's an awesome Radio system.
Battery protection for the Turnigy. It will go up in smoke if you plug the battery(s) in wrong.
Thanks Brent, that is a much better manual. But I didn't see it mention to move all of the toggle switches up and back when powering up the 9X. But maybe that quirk will disappear with a firmware change. Thanks again.
Turnigy 9x
Here is a nice manual

I just bought a 9x a couple of weeks ago. Here is a quote from the manual: Mix purpose to accuse of form to get rid of little mistake of organism. Make it is it can take the heart conveniently even more to have not to handle. The very wanton one mixes accusing of among the channel.
It is like it was written by the Borg, I wish the last line was Resistance is Futile. I have many different transmitters and it took me a couple hours to get channels 1-4 working, 5-8 still are not working. Having said all that, I think it will be fine once I put the time and effort into it. BUT if you want something that is going to work right away then buy a name brand.
Hi Gage, For low budget I would suggest the Turnigy 9X. 8 Channels for that low price is really good.
I'm owner of a 9X too, it works well, but I did a software update (AVR Programmer needed) to get a nicer User Interface without annoying beeps :)
