I have a Turnigy/iMax 9X transmitter and receiver. I am attempting to build a quadcoputer following Jose Julio's design and using his code. As implemented, he uses a single pin on the Arduimu as a PPM input, then parses the PPM signal to get individual channels. Thus, the single PPM signal must have multiple channels within it. Indeed, it would seem that you would need at least three channels. Jose designed his system using Spektrum RC equipment.
As I understand it, PPM can certainly do this. However, I don't see how to get the Turnigy TX to do this. I see reference to the PROG 123 setting but it looks like that would only allow you to mix two channels - not more. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any guidance.
James

All i can suggest is that since you are new to all this to start with rather building yourself an arducopter (link on top of the page) For the arducopter you can still use your own components, you just need to get the ardupilot board, and the oilpan, then you can build ur own frame, get your own motors etc.. And it is compatible with basically all transmitters
Many people are building and working on arducopter, and there is a very good wiki with lots of information to help you.
