Hello,
I have recently been having some significant issues with my 3DR U-blox GPS + Compass modules. It seems that no matter what I do I cannot get a reliable 3D Fix.
I am currently running the unit with a Pixhawk controller running a slightly modified version of Arduplane 3.3.1 in a Skywalker frame. I have used the unit before without issue using a standard plane setup with a 3DR power module to power the Pixhawk, and using the BEC from my ESC to power my servo rail.
Recently, however I have changed ESCs and this ESC has an issue with the built in BEC so I am using a separate BEC that I am powering from my 4 cell battery in order to power my servo rail.
Since I have made this change it seems my GPS has become extremely unreliable, although I don't see how the two things would be related. It seems like only about 25% of the time I am able to get a decent 3D Fix, and even then it seems like it drops out a lot during flight.
I have tried:
- Moving my GPS up and away from my other components.
- Multiple GPS and Pixhawk units as well as new wires.
- Disconnecting my new BEC, which I thought would fix the problem but it seems to do nothing.
- Flashing the 3DR configuration to the GPS unit.
- Using the newest unmodified Arduplane firmware.
I have tried these things and it seems like the GPS is just very inconsistent about whether or not it will get a lock, no matter what I do. I am out of ideas to try and I was hoping someone could offer some insight or ideas to try to make my GPS work properly again.
Thanks!
Daniel
