UAV Platform Questions

I have been looking at the RightWing: Zephyr II and several other Mono-Wing UAV configurations.  They all utilize EPO foam which from what I understand is rugged and has high survivability.

I'm wondering if anyone has made any other designs non-commercially that can be worked from EPO or similar type foam?  The requirement would be overall weight under 50lbs, delta-wing, with enough payload capacity to carry double camera setup and associated autopilot.  And most importantly high survivability and stable sustained flight characteristics?

Your expertise is greatly appreciated!

Best,

Corey

  • There are a couple of guys on youtube, I think the name is Flite Test? They have made use of a very simple, very dependable foam body for some of what they do called a "Kraken". They practically rave about the thing- here is a link:

You could take that as a basis, and buildit up to match what you want to do.

Another kind that looks real cool is this, a "Horton":

    - Yes, its an evil Nazi thing - IF you paint it that way, or it could just be a really cool body to start with.
