UBLOX and U-Center

I have been trying to reflash  the Ublox using U-center andt he Ublox firmware update tutorial with the simple Ardu sketch to utilize the mini USB on the oilpan.

The only way I am able to see a data stream in Binary console or the packet console is if I leave the Baud rate at 9600 in the fourth line of the sketch.

I have tried resetting to 38400 in the sketch, but I cant see any data in the binary console.

The two Icons described in the tutorial are green and show a connected at 38400.

I've been successfully using the UBLOX and adapter for the past 2 weeks or so.

Worked fine yesterday. Still had a solid red LED when I brought the plane inside. No crashes or mishandling.

This morning I could not get the Gps to lock.

The red LED on the Oilpan just kept flashing 15mins plus multiple attempts, outside.

When I investigated the hardware I noticed the Adapter was partially disconnected from the gps module at the plug between the two components.(hot glue failed)

Completely disassembled the two pieces and examined under microscope, everything appeared fine.I Ohmed out the 4 connections between the APM and Adapter from board to board.

After reassembly ran GPS test in the CLI.

This is what I get inside or outside.

Is it it possible that the GPS firmware can be corrupted if the adapter is removed from the Ublox  while powered?

All the other tests in the CLI show normal parameters.

The only other thing that comes to mind as far as changes is that this morning before the problem occurred  I was using APM Planner and wrote my first attempt at a flight plan consisting of 2 waypoints to the EEPROM.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Joe,

I suspect your uBlox is set up for 9600 baud, the default rate. It must be reconfigured to 38,400 with uCenter. Your uBlox can be corrupted when disconnected during firmware updates or while saving configuration settings.  If this happens you need to reinstall the firmware. UBlox can be disconnected any other time.

I have tested this may times. uBlox are very robust. I have abused mine a lot..

I get a lock indoors in one story wood building with composite shingles.

I have configured mine to get DGPS/3D lock after downloading 5 day almanac data from uBlox servers.

Johann, let the test run for 20 mins or more then check. Once uBlox gets a good lock, It remembers the location and Sat data, and next locks will be in 30 seconds or less.
