Unbreakable Propellers

Greetings everyone!

I'm new to the quadcopter hobby, but i'm researching on it for 4 months now! After lots of hours of research i decided to make my own! I ordered and built one in a week, since i had researched for all the parts i needed, but there is a small problem! I have tested the quad sometimes , it flies, but I break 2-3 propellers per flight!

The first time, i tried to take off at a local football field in a park in the morning , where it was  empty! It flew ok but when tried to land it to edit some PIDs, just a small angle correction near ground and one of the propellers hit the ground! Then ALL of them broke since it rolled!

Next time i tried to fly it, during the take off in a high-grass field (about 20cm), it lifted just 1 metre but like it was going forwards, and without enough altitude, it nailed the ground!AGAIN!!! Two propellers broken completely, and found all four blades planted to the ground!

I know i'm not a good pilot since i never tried a quadcopter again, but i have to learn somehow ,right?

But how am i going to do it since i pay more than 10 pounds for a set of props each time??

Setup :

Frame : Turnigy H.A.L.

Motors: jDrones 880kv

ESCs : Turnigy Plush 30A

Battery : 3S 4300mAh

APM 2.5

Propellers : GEMFAN 1245 (supposed to be composite)

  • I used some electrical tape to attach a wooden dowel to the end of each arm so that they extend a little past the props. That way when you tilt a prop  into the ground, the dowel takes the hit and either bounces it back to upright or breaks before the prop(s) do. At the very least it gives you an extra fraction of a moment to cut the throttle.

  • Any Suggestions about a propeller set that bends and doesn't break?

    Thanks in advance!!
