Update to the APM 2560 or wait for the next Generation?

I have heard talk of new things soon to come could be around the corner, and was wondering if I should save my money and wait for the next Generation Arducopter motherboard or upgrade to the APM 2560 now?

Any advise? I currently have the APM 1280.

It's a waste of money to buy an APM 2560 having an APM 1280 except if you want to upgrade the code by your own and 128k flash is not enought for you.

it will be a new shield or only the ardupilotmega?
