USBprog issue with Vista - can't update driver

Hi Guys,

I recently got time to set up an EPI-OSD on my MK based multirotor. I have also bought an EPI-Strom and a USBprog to flash the various chips.

I have hit my first hurdle. The EPI board is running the EPI-OSD firmware whereas the EPI-Strom (Current sensor) is set to C-OSD. I like C-OSD so wan't to flash the EPI board with the C-EPI firmware.

The problem is I am working from a laptop so I do not have a serial port. I bought the USBprog for that reason.

I have soldered up the board and I have green LED on for power. I also have two red LED flashes followed by a pause then repeating which indicates the bootloader is installed.

I downloaded the first version of the software (USBProg 0.1.1 I think) this included some funky libusb drivers which drove my computer insane. I had connected the USBProg but it did not connect properly.

I have since uninstalled the earlier software and installed version 0.2.0.

When I connect the USBprog I get 'USB device not recognised'. It is listed in device manager under universal serial bus controllers as an 'unknown device'.I have tried to manually direct it to the driver (programfiles\USBprog\driver) but I get the message 'the best driver software for you device is already installed'. When I click on driver details I get ' no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device'.I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the device several times without any sucess. Is there any way to force vista to use a certain driver? Please help!!

Regards

Fergus

Remove the USB device from DeviceManager completely (unplug the adapter obviously).

Install the driver BEFORE connecting the adapter.

Vista must have special USB drivers installed first or it will pick a generic one and hang onto it for dear life.
