Use of Onboard Voltage measurement of main battery pack.

Hi All,

I'm a bit puzzled by the installation/correct wiring and use of the on-board voltage measuring. It suggests that the easiest way to connect is to use the red wire, furthest away from the ground on the LIPO balance plug. This should output the same voltage as the main connector going to the PDB and therefor the ESC's. Why not use the main voltage (3s = 11.1 and 4s =14.4) pads on the PDB? No connectors, just two wires? What am I missing?

Also, the manual talks about using only one resistor, which makes sense when only measuring total pack voltage. However, the kit came with 4 resistors and the forums speak of using resistors (plural). Again, what am I missing?

My goal is simple: I just want to measure main battery pack voltage (I'm using 4s) and send the voltage via Xbee to ground station. I have already had a brand new Turnigy Nano 4s 5000mAh pack fail on me (only half capacity, bad cell). Fortunately I was only at 20cm AGL.

I can use the DX8's Telemetry module, but I like the voltage to show up in Arduplanner (and it saves me some extra hardware).

Summarized: what is the easiest way to measure 4s voltage, and how to hook it up? How many resistors to use? I suspect that one resistor and voltage straight from PDB should work just fine, but I don't dare to try....

Thanks!

Alexander

One resistor in the left-most position will measure voltage from pdb just fine. Make sure to turn on pack voltage monitoring in setup in planner and that the input voltage parameter in the parameter list accurately reflects your APM input voltage from your BEC.
