Most of GPS chip used in RC is the UBlox. The design of this chip is about 10 years old, and I use the NV08C since 4 years; which I think perform best and also receive the GLONASS Russian GPS information (see picture).
I also put a saw filter to reject all out of frequency pollution signals and an active GPS patch antenna.
I wonder if someone has already written a algorithm to combine all GPS information, including the gyro, sensors and compass information, in order to obtain a position of less than 50cm 3D precision, including for inside use….
If not, maybe someone interrested collaborating on this project as open source?

Even if one can accurately measure drift and movement using other sensors, these only give movement away from some original location or home. The measurement and accuracy of home can only be given by some gps like system be it the American GPS or any of the others.
However there was a kickstarter project mentioned a while back here with a name like pixie something that was supposed to offer much greater precision by measuring portions of each wave( i hope thats how it worked).
