What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to build a big Quadcopter and Tri Copter..... not easy.  I have these for parts:

(4) Turnigy 25 (710kv)

(4) Red Brick 50a opto ESC

(2) Sky Lipo 14.8 40C 4000mah batteries

(2 and 2) 13x6.5 APC thin props... pusher and regular

KK Black Board bought from eBay for 24.99.... you may know the one

Well for the quad copter I get all the parts to together....using PVC....  but when I power up 3 motors spin and the third kinda jitters....  I calibrated everthing as far as I know.... oh wait.... I had this thing in the air before for about 4 seconds....  here are my videos..... HELP

  • SO I have the Tri kinda running..... here is my problem now..... I throttle up and it starts spinning to the right..... so fix the rudder trim right......spins in the other direction..... I keep trimming but it dosnt want to stay centered.  So I noticed that when the throttle goes up the servo pushes in one direction ???? So I held the the Tri down and throttled up...... to my surprise when I let go it didn't yaw to much like before????????? Any suggestions?  Also my YAW mechanism is not the best.... any suggestion......

  • Probably just a bad connection between motor and ESC causing the jittering.

However, it seemed to fly OK when you had it in the air for that 4 second period ... until an arm came off.

Seems to me your main problem is the unglued PVC joints.  There's going to be a lot of torque from those big motors and props.  You really have to glue all the joints.  If you need to pull it apart for transport, then leave one joint in each arm unglued, but pin it with a self-tapping screw that you can easily remove.

    Otherwise, it looks very promising.

    • The ESCs should be very close to the motors (no extensions)
    • lots of patience to tune the trims
    • a frame upgrade !!!
