I was using APM2.6 on my Traxxas 4WD Slash Rovers originally and had a lot of overshoot during 90 degree turns.
Switching to the Pixhawk1 and using the EKF at the time resulted in very smooth turns without overshoot and considerably improved my Rover times though the Sparkfun AVC rover course.
