What extra do I need to make a Drone out of a Bexler?

O.K. I've just signed up for delivery of a complete Hobby-King Bexler kit. It's going to fly just nice with a 2.4GHz control system.

What do I need to turn it into a drone?

I can see plenty of kit listed on the site but is there a recipe for turning it into a drone? I mean parts-lists and suppliers and software.

I see GPS enabled auto-pilots but also telemetry systems and horizon detectors.

What actually is needed? What benefits?

  • I'd get an APM 2.5+, then either 3DR or xbee telemetry, and a few extra servo leads. That'll get you in the air, doing full auto, RTL, and normal, stable flight. Provided of course you have RC gear, batteries, charger etc. Oh and a laptop helps for infield tuning.
