I want to buy some nylon hinges for my airplane because the foam connections from the wings to the ailerons are cut pretty much...I've tried other methods to fix them with stuff like glue, but it restricts the movement of the ailerons. I found some nylon hinges on grayson hobby, but how do I attach them to the airplane? Some sort of epoxy? Or Screws???

I also did not trust the thin foam connection between the surfaces, nor do I trust the cheap sheet style hinges on alot of the ARFs these days so I use Du-bro hinges in diff sizes.

I have used them for years in balsa or plywood surfaces.

They sell hinge slot machines, but I guess those are more for those who do alot of building.

It is best to use a straight edge to make sure you have the angle right (or you will have some binding during movement).

I slot mine with a sharp Xacto blade and make there is enough room for the hinge to slide in nicely. I use CA glues, making sure none gets in the hinge pin.
(I learned a trick long ago of adding a small amount of petroleum jelly to the metal hinge pin to keep the crazy glue from wicking onto it)

On a balsa surface I push toothpicks through the wood into the holes in the hinge material, but that is more for large scale birds, not Elapor foam.

There are several threads which help describe the best ways of installing hinges at both rcgroups and rcuniverse.
