I was wondering why we are still working on regular drones (multi-rotor) since VTOL aircraft have been made? Is there any advantage for copters over those VTOL aircraft?

Survey the number of VTOLs out there. The number is very small compared to helicopters or even multi-rotors. VTOLs are just complicated with all the extra moving parts to provide vertical thrust, vectoring of that thrust, and a control system that supports these additions which makes them expensive. Sadly, the performance of a VTOL will be less than an airplane or a helicopter in their respective flight modes, however, it will perform the functions of both and that is the attraction.
The code. VTOL has a long way to go still.
