Wireless USB - long range

I need to connect a USB device to a PC host, with long range (200-500m LOS)

found the "cables unlimited" thing, and other solutions from Belkin, but they are just 10m range.
i've found USB over wifi - which could be good - only thing i CANT use 2.4ghz.

I've thought - maybe my Xbee could carry the USB data ? it will be slowed down of course, but that's OK.
i know that USB protocol is very complex, so i'm skeptic, but maybe not ?

any other solution ?

  • Oh gosh, look what i've found !

it does pretty much all settings, it can set the DSLR's parameters remotely,

the only problem is to get a feedback -  that you need a video stream with your own video transmitter from the camera's live video out,

and it's not done through the canon software which is really nice and easy to use

  • Good Question.  I was wondering kind of the same thing.  I have 2 Xbeepro 900's and was wondering if i could us them to connect to the keychain camera to use via onboard webcam.
