Xbee 900 and XCTU help

I purchased the recommended Xbee modules and USB adapter board.  I also downloaded Digi's X-CTU utility.  However, when i run the utility, the utility communicates with the Xbee properly, but it does not recognize the modem type.  it says "unknown."  That being said, it does have firmware version 1002.  I know this from the PC Settings tab and Test/Query button.  When i go to the modem communications tab and hit the read button, i get an error that says, "The Modem configuration file was not found.  Would you like to check the website for updates?"  I do that, but it says there are no updates available.  I have also tried to get things working by pressing the Download New Versions Button...it says no new versions are available.

I must be doing something wrong...can anyone help?

Thanks,

Jay

    Jay,

It sounds like your Xbee has never been configured. Who did you buy them from? The thing to do is to select the DP configuration that uses VID to identify the module and program that configuration.
