Yaw problem - compass or airframe?

I have a bit of a yaw problem on my hexacopter. In any mode (stabilise, alt-hold or loiter), when I yaw, the copter drifts off even in still air. In loiter, it will return to the spot reasonably directly. Simple mode works reasonably well. It doesn't seem like a compass issue to me.

Logs attached from 2 short flights - 1st was in alt-hold, and a 360deg yaw in both directions, then the same in loiter.

Although this is 3.0-rc2, the same happens in 2.9.1. For 3.0-rc2, I did the compass dance, and compassmot using a current sensor. Overall the performance is fantastic - just need to nail this yaw issue so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Rick

  • Good day, Rick. As i understand, i have same problem as you. Drift while yaw. My copter drift same way as i yaw. When i yaw left, copter drift left, yaw right - drift right. I have TBS Disc.clone - HK SK450 "DeadCat". Do you fix it? If yes, help please

How much of drift are you getting? Some yaw drift is natural, you can compensate with manual input.
