Best platform for tetracam

Hi all, i know this topic has already been digested and regurgitated, but I am looking for:

- the best and most affordable UAV

- carries a Tetracam multispectral camera

- can be used for mapping, orthophotos and 3D mapping

Is there a simple answer out there?

Cheers, Michiel

  • Hi all

Last week ACRE, TETRACAM, Aibotix and EnsoMOSAIC have prepared a dedicated “Multi-spectral UAV-Bundle optimized for performing precision agriculture work.  ACRE is worldwide responsible to integrate TetraCam products into the Aibot X6.

  • As a simple answer to your question, no. There is no simple answer. It will depend an a number of factors:

    1. How do you want to move your camera around?
    2. What kind of area are you trying to cover?
    3. What kind of pilot competency do you have?

Hex/Octicopters would be good for small areas with high cash value and high quality sensors. Flying wings are good for larger areas. If you want to cover 100,000's acres, then a larger petrol powered aircraft may be needed. Platform choice is completely dependant upon the mission you are performing.

I personally think the Skywalker X8 flying wing is a good compromise on many factors for surveying large areas. If the prop/ motor is chosen carefully, can achieve 1.5 hours endurance...amazing for an electric vehicle

You didn.t even mentioned if you have 1 year RC flying experience.

  • Hi Mick,

Which Tetracam (ADC Micro, MCA4, MCA6 or MCA5 with ILS)?

Also as stated by Vin, allot depends on your budget and if you want to do small precise surveys or large area surveys?

  • My 2 cents :

Airframe :  Skywalker Foamy 2013 /  Sky soldier /  Pengiun ,   with appropriate motor & battery suit your mission distance .

    APM 2.5 Autopilot .

Appropriate telemetry like Scherrer / Dragon link to suit your distance .

  • Sorry but what sort of budget do you have..  Are you thinking MulitRotor or plane?

    Vin
