Hi There,
I'm new to UAV, just wondering how can a mounted digital camera be activated to take photos at certain intervals while in the air? Can the intervals of photo taking be controlled from the Mission Planner?
Thanks,
Richard

Thank you all for your help, great advice!
Thank you guys for the replies. Yes, I need to do aerial mapping. I will be working for a company that has a fruit farm that covers an area of about 660 acres. I have been tasked to explore the use UAVs for the management and monitoring of the farm. Would appreciate if you could provide recommendation(s) as to what type of UAVs I should consider purchasing.
We plan to fly the UAV(s) at least once a day to cover the whole farm using different types of camera (eg. Infrared camera). As data is collected daily, with the availability of Big Data, I would be interested to know whether there are analytical software that is currently available that we can use for fruit farm management and monitoring.
1. I would like to know what types of UAVs are suitable for us
2. How many UAVs do we need to cover 660 acres of farm daily. For a farm of this size, will a copter be appropriate or a plane? How long does the craft need to be in the air to cover the whole area in a single mission? what would be an appropriate Mission Planner settings, eg. how high to fly the craft, and so on.
3. Is it possible to mount more than one camera on the craft? Eg: 1. For live-video feed to the base station. 2. For Normal photography, 3. For Near-infrared photography.
Thanks,
Richard
CHDK
Hi Richard,
If you use a Canon as a camera with CHDK, it's an easy process.
The simple way is to use an intervalometer script, that takes a picture every N second:
See this discussion
But if you use a specific wire, you can control everything from the mission planner software :

More information here as well.
