AMP 2.6 Mega Programming

Hi All,

The time on my senior project is dwilndling down and I'm having a little trouble getting/trying to figure out the APM programmed for a boat rather than a plane. I'm not to sure where to begin with this since I've never worked with it before and I don't want to absolutely screw everything up.

    Hi Randi,

    Both my Pontoon RSV and Traxxas R/C Racing Boat Discussion Projects use the APM2.6

    The Pontoon RSV makes use of the ArduRover2 skid (differential) steering function while the Racing Boat uses steering and throttle outputs just like with a rover only the tuning is different.

    ArduRover2 v2.46 works fine with steering and throttle outputs, but has an issue with the skid steering function.

    This DIY Drones Discussion will give you an idea of using steering and throttle for a boat Link however I would not put much faith in the PID values as the author was using an older version of the ArduRover2 firmware that did not use NAVL1 firmware initially. Though he did later move to the NAVL1 version firmware. 

    I would recommend either v2.45 or v2.47 beta 1 for skid steering, however the rangefinder function in v2.47 beta 1 appears not to function correctly.

    I have just finished building and manually testing both the Pontoon RSV and Racing Boat so I am now in the process of tuning both of them for optimal performance.

      Hi Tom.  With v2.47 released is the rangefinder function still a problem?

      Hi Grant,

      I verified that Tridge has fixed the rangefinder function in the stable v2.47 release.

    Randi,  I don't think you can screw everything up.  My opinion is load the 2.45 rover code and go from there.  Any questions after that can probably be answered by TCIII or maybe myself.  The Arduboat manual is simply to follow. I can't help you with tuning due to the fact that I am still waiting for my thrusters to arrive.
