[Our First ArduBoat for hydraulic project]

Hello all,

I'm a student in hydraulic & geologic school, and with two friends of mine we want to built our first aquatic boat for a school project and because we are interested about this domain.

This boat will permit us to take severals datas of rivers to then parameterize boundary conditions for studies rivers bed, aquatic ecology, sedimentation, geomorphic change and sediment transport.

We just started our project (listing materials, make electrical schemes). We would like to order equipment soon but we have questions to ask before.

 - We choose 2 motors T100 thruster (11,5 Amp/h , 12V) and 1 Pixhawk (200mAmp/h). It is better to use LiPo 3S (6200mAh / 11,1V / 450g) or LiPo 4S (6200mAh / 14,8V / 590g) ? We think take the second one because the voltage must be higher than motors voltage. Is it right ?

- It is necessary to protect batteries (I mean electrical protection) but what kind of protection should we use ?

- I made 2 electrical schemes (see attached documents). These resume our materials we would use for our boat and I hope they are electrically correct.

After that we'll working on the shape of the boat, and start the programmation of Pixhawk and Arduino with adafruit GPS/Data logger shield.

I hope my post was clear enough,

Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards,

Edouard R.

  • The T 100's work fine with 3S batteries.  I don't know for sure but a 4S pack could damage them if they were run to hard.  I use 3S  with no issues.
