Hi all, I just put the finishing touches on v1 of my brushless gimbal design, so thought I'd share here in case anyone else wanted to try building one.
*Disclaimer: I haven't flown with it just yet, but will report back after I get a chance to this weekend.
Here's a page that details the parts and how to assemble it. The parts can be 3d printed on a Makerbot, or possibly via Shapeways or some other service (but I haven't sent it off to anyone for test prints just yet - just Makerbot prints).

It uses a Martinez style gimbal controller board ($39 from hobbyking) and two small brushless motors, also from Hobbyking that cost about $15 each. So about $80 total not including 3d printing costs. If anyone knows of cheaper gimbal controller boards, let me know!
Anyway, have a look, let me know if you have any q's. I'll post some in-flight videos after I get a chance to fly it this weekend.
