US and FAA Rules, Practical Example

President Obama is visiting our area today, so there is a TFR or Temporary Flight Restriction while he is here.  Included in the verbage is:

THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED WITHIN THIS TFR: FLIGHT TRAINING, PRACTICE INSTRUMENT APPROACHES, AEROBATIC FLIGHT, GLIDER OPERATIONS, SEAPLANE OPERATIONS, PARACHUTE OPERATIONS, ULTRALIGHT, HANG GLIDING, BALLOON OPERATIONS, AGRICULTURE/CROP DUSTING, ANIMAL POPULATION CONTROL FLIGHT OPERATIONS, BANNER TOWING OPERATIONS, SIGHTSEEING OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE TEST FLIGHTS, RADIO CONTROLLED MODEL AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS, MODEL ROCKETRY, UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (UAS), AND UTILITY AND PIPELINE SURVEY OPERATIONS.

As an AMA member, got an automated email about it.  As a local RC club member, our President "closed the field" for the day.  As a rusty small plane pilot, I also have FAA access about NOTAMs (Notices to Airment).

This is my first time since I took up flying RC aircraft (only multicopters so far), that I fully grasp the impact even on hobbyists.

It's a "Brave New World!"
