Hello,

I am still learning to fly my Y6 from 3drobotics store. Included in the kit I found two velcro straps, which I used to grab hold of the battery.

Today, in mid-flight, I see something fly down from my Y6, (followed by the Y6 itself).

Thankfully I was alone, and the Y6 just crashed in the ground without hurting anyone.

When I approach it, I can see that the first thing I saw falling off was the battery, which -thankfully enough- is undamaged. When I inspect the copter, I find what you can see in the picture.

The place where the velcro strap is cut (quite neatly cut) corresponds to where it angles on the top side of the battery.

The battery is quite roundish on it's sides, so definitely it was not a "cutting action" per se, but more something wich I suppose sems to be "fatigue".

This raises a warning: This is the fifth or so time I fly my 3Drobotics copter. it is "quite" new. This may indicate that the velcro straps are of substandard quality. Either that, or velcro is not the answer to hold batteries in place.

At the end of the day, here it comes, another purchase into 3Drobotics store.

To worsen things up a notch, their store  does not carry a discrete account of ALL stuff required to repair an Y6. You cannot buy several of it's pieces alone. Sorry for my english, but you get the grip of the idea.

Anyway I wouldnt know if it is wise to buy the velcro straps from them, even if they carry them separately. The rest of the stuff (a motor, two propellers, several screws and plastic separators, etc. will need to be replaced too).

So please guys, check up your velcro straps.be sure they are not about to snap, before flying your Y6 !

regards,

Sigma

    Hola Enrique,

I'm sorry to see that happen. I would suggest putting some velcro tape on the location where the battery goes on the y6 and on the battery itself to lessen the strain on the straps.

There were some problems with batteries falling from the sky a while ago and it was generally agreed that you needed more than the strap.

I guess with the two straps on the Y6 people thought it wasn't required anymore, but I don't know about any of us here, but when I'm throwing the Y6 around, the lasdt thing I want is the battery moving, changing the centre of gravity or worse yet, falling from the copter.

I'm about to head out flying, but will post some pics of what I mean when I get back.

Also, if you let us know what broke, we should be able to point you in the right direction on the store.

    Gracias,David.
