Hi All,
A real quick question that I can't seem to find the answer for ... if when using stablise or althold flight modes (and not using simple or super simple), is the onboard/external compass used at all to correct the yaw of the aircraft?
I was under the impression that the compass was not used at all in these two more manual flight modes, however from the info here http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/stabilize-mode.html I get the impression that it may use the compass to stablise yaw if there is no pilot input to the yaw, due to the bullet point that says "Pilot’s yaw input controls the rate of change of the heading. When the pilot releases the yaw stick the vehicle will maintain it’s current heading."
Can anyone confirm this for me please, as we have some issues with one of our UAVs, and this may rule out one possible point of error that we are seeing.
Many thanks,
S.
