Hexcopter - power question - JP1 jumper - in or out??

Configuration -

APM 2.5

4S 4000 LiPo

3DR 915MHz radio

1200 Sonar

Ext GPS

Should the jumper be installed or not?

No camera yet but likely to be a pan/tilt affair with GoPro

thanks

Michael, if you have normal APM power unit OR you have uBec that provides power from Input pins, there is no need to have JP1.

JP1 is used mainly when you have servo(s) connected on output pins 1-8 and/or you provide power input from output pins.

If you plan to use camera tilt/pan module in future I would suggest not to use JP1 but have APM power unit providing power normal way to flight electronics and then additional uBec that provides power for servo(s) on output rail.

What JP1 does, it connects output rail +5v pins to generic +5v area on whole board (eg +5v on input rail and +5v on analog rail).

If JP1 is not connected it is safe to have 2 power units and like said this would be best option when running pan/tilt systems. If you use internal power to run your servos, you might end having too little power to run your flight electronics.

Are you using the APM Power Module? see http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_Current#APM_2.5:_Using...
