APM2.5 Firmware Update

Hi,

I'm a newbie in this hobby.

When I'm connecting my quanum (APM2.5) to the Mission Planner, a notification about a new firmware version pops up.

Till now I didn't update it (I saw a lot of reviews describing problems with updated versions).

3 questions:

1) Is the firmware for specific quads or is it generic for all X quads ?

2) Is there any website with all the available firmware's for quads - with reviews ?

3) How can I get the current firmware of my Quad with its settings BEFORE I upload a new one

4) Will the settings change with the new firmware ?

  • Hi Tsvi...The APM has been 'retired'.

It seems that the latest firmware upgrade that still work with the 2.5/2.6 is AC 3.2.1.

I had bad autotune results with that edition, after having had a great flying experience on AC 3.1.5.

There is quite a bit of info on the DIYdrones forum on the subject and also on the APM forum too?

AC 3.3 will not be happy with the APM 2.5 due to the lack of processing power it seems. (8 bit and opposed to 32 bit for the Pixhawk).

You can save your parameters in MP on the full parameters page to a file if you want to import them later having fiddled....!

    Good luck!

    • Thanks for your answer

      I understand that

      1) the versions are universal for all APM multicopters.

      2) You suggest to stay with 3.1.5

      Is that right ?

Do you know uf there is a tutorial about save a "restore" of the actual APM card content (version, params, etc...)

that in case of mistake I would be abble to come back to the present state (that flies ok) ?
