APM2.5 firmware version 3.0.1 Quadcopter

My APM 2.5 seems to drift and I can not get it to go into auto trim mode. How is this done. Also I have a issue with guided. I guessing guided is when u program flight planner to do a mission and then its meant to do that. Mine just goes mental and tries to crash. I would love to have someone help me set this up properly.   • Guided is more of a go 'here' now go 'here' mode using GCS.
    Auto is for planned missions.
  • Auto trim:

    Hold the rudder to the usual arming position, but not for the normal 4 seconds, you need to hold it for about (I think) 20-30 seconds. You will notice the A/B/C lights will start to flash in a different sequence. Take off, and give stick inputs to hold its position only. After about 15 seconds, the lights will change. Land NOW with no further stick inputs, and disarm. Re-Arm, and it will store the inputs as trim. 

    As for the Guided, I thought the mode to follow a mission was AUTO?
