APM2.6 + Quad QAV400 climb faster with POSITION HOLD

i planned to climb as high as i can with APM2.6 and small quad

i choose very large area & away from houses , miles away from airport / flight path and do the test

using POSITION HOLD ,my 1st attempt was horrible, not success, because i am using vtx lawmate 1.2ghz 1watt and mounting it behind apm GPS, and got GPS glitch many times , apm turn to land mode, and i almost crash because not aware of it. i switch to stab mode and alt hold and the situation become ok and land successfully.

 

2nd attempted i mount my vtx at bottom frame plate of QAV400. then no gps glitch at all

position hold was awesome. veryfast climb

sunnysky motor 980kv

4500mah 4s. 10min (bal 25%)

    1watt vtx? You're doing something wrong...

    Go for better GCS antenna, and downgrade your vtx. For this range on 1.2ghz, you really shouldn't need more than 125mW vtx. The key is the antenna design and placement.

    Also, if your missions is climbing straight up from "Home", you'll have a massive hole in reception if the antenna's are mounted vertically. Even with the CP mushroom antenna's, the map is donut shaped, with a "black hole" right over the centre. Mount them horizontally.

    Oh, and get permission if you plan on doing this altitude stunt again...

    I'll leave others to scold you about potentially flying over the legal limit. I personally never do that.

    So were you using LOITER or POSITION flight mode?  POSITION is the slightly weird mode where the roll and pitch are controlled by the Loiter controller but the throttle is completely manually.  It's such an unusual mode that we were thinking of removing it for AC3.2...just wondering if I should re-think that plan because some people may actually be using it.

    boo fron that video you from malaysia

    1)law in malaysia 433mhz cannot be use for remote but only for HAM radio 

    2) above 500 meter DCA will get you since above 500m for aircraft ,regardless you fly far from airport bear in mind there is still air traffic exp helicopter ,

    i,m hope your friend haidar will scold since he always telling people don't do it

    btw i hope dca and jupem will visit you soon
