Autonomous control without GPS/compass

Folks, I need some advice.

I would like to purchase either a 3DR X8+ or Y6 and control it autonomously using a ground PC and software that I write. The autonomous control includes takeoff, landing, and flight (particularly attitude control at the yaw, roll, pitch level) in a large indoor environment. I will use a range of sensors to give me UAV location.


My question is will the Pixhawk or APM allow me to perform all these autonomous functions without a GPS and compass?

    All those functions are already supported in both the APM and PX4 software for Pixhawk. Please see the dev site for all details. 

    • Thanks Chris!  And just to confirm, are those functions enabled without a GPS/compass?

    • In Mission Planner you can disable GPS and probably compass too.
