I have just started using APM1 board. I wanted to upload the quadcopter firmware to my apm board but compiling error is occuring there as shown in the attached screenshot. So I tried to upload the firmware using mission planner but the latest version is saying that your hardware memory is not sufficient for this firmware. So now I want to upload any version of firmware to my apm board. So can you help me regarding this?

Make sure you have both the arducopter and libraries directories in your ardiuno directory.
Upgrade to ardiuno 1.0.1 or whatever the current version is. You don't need relax patch with the new versions.

Close ardiuno and reopen any time you change anything in libraries

Upgrade to ArduPilot 2650, the 1280 is too small for arducopter or ArduPlane, and requires that you strip away features. It does, however, work for smaller projects (boats, rovers, trackers, etc)
  • Well, first of all you can't use regular version of Arduino, but instead use the relax patch wich can be found here : http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/downloads/detail?name=ardui...

Second if you have the 1280 based board, you must make some changes to reduce the compiled code to fit in memory and disable logs. If you search at the thread Arducopter 2.6 released ! I believe there are some folks there sugesting what changes to make (http://diydrones.com/xn/detail/705844%3ATopic%3A891565).
