Loiter Problem

Today I was testing the Alt Hold and Loiter modes.  When I switched to Loiter for the first time, my hexacopter locked into position.  After Loiter, I switched back to Stabilize.  Everything seemed okay.  Although, when I went back to Loiter, the hex wouldn't lock into position.  It jittered and moved closer to the launch location, but the hex still held its altitude.  Due to the instability, I switched back to stabilize to regain control.

I attached the tlog for review.  There was a lot of bright sunlight, but I'm not sure that would have given me the problem.

Note:  I have done all of the recommend calibrations, including Compassmot.

Thanks in advance.

  • While playing back my log, I noticed the copter went into RTL instead of Loiter.  Why would it go to Loiter one time, but not another?  Per my previous post, the copter did return to home.  The copter acted as if it couldn't decide between Loiter or RTL (Switched to Loiter, but the Mission Planner said RTL).  Note:  During the return, the copter held it's altitude when I switched to Loiter.

I should note, when testing the Flight Modes, the switches respond correctly.

    Flap/Gyro 3 Switch - (Gear/Mix 0) 1. Stabilize - Simple 2. Alt-Hold 3 - Simple Loiter - Simple (Gear/Mix 1) 4. RTL 5. Stabilize - Simple 6. Stabilize - Simple

Question:  Could it be the range setting within my radio is conflicting between switch 3 and 4?
