Making Loiter more aggressive

Stabalize works great, hauls butt etc

Loiter is slow like traveling thru molasses

Any way I can make loiter more like stabilize flight.

Nothing crazy now, just a little closer to the stabilize "feel" all around, I know I can get Alt Hold but then it can drift, I want to maintain GPS

    I've recently fixed up some of the flight mode wiki pages including the one for Loiter.

    I suspect what will help is to increase the loiter speed (WPNAV_LOIT_SPEED) parameter.

    I don't think that people should need to adjust the Loiter PID or Loiter Rate PID values anymore.

    Drift mode is great but it uses a manual throttle (i.e. altitude is not maintained automatically).  That will likely be changed in a future version.

    Also, you might want to try Drift mode, which is a very cool mode that has aggressive airplane-like control while maintaining the Loiter-like behavior of stopping when you release the sticks. 

  • Increase rate Loiter (P) for faster correction. An increase of this P value would bring the correction of desired GPS (x, y) position to the current GPS (x, y) position close to 0, faster.

    Beware, this can also make it oscillate if P is too high!
