I recieved an apm2.5 the week of March 4th 2013. After reading thru this pagehttp://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-ppm-encoder-apm2x-atmega32u2/#APM_2x_Atmega_32U2_8_Channel_PPM_encoderand seeing mention of new firmware for units shipped after 3/4/2013 I decided to check the firmware to see if I am running the latest version.I followed instructions to the letter and detirmined I am indeed running the latest firmware even though my unit shipped about a week before the date mentioned. Now I am no longer to get a gps fix. The gps module appears to lock based on led pattern but no lock in mission planner, no loiter etc. What might I have done wrong? I have tried the 3dr gps as well as pulling one from rctimer off another model, no lock. What might I have done to no longer have communication with GPS?

It's very unlikely that updating the ppm encoder had any effect on the GPS. The only thing that might be related is that you remembered to remove the little jumper on jp2 after completely the ppmencoder upgrade?
You are able to connect to the APM with the mission planner?
