Powering APM with Ubec and JP1 off ?

Hello,

I have a question about powering the APM based on a UBEC (not via 3DR power module):

-JP1 is now off

-Can I then plug a UBEC 5,3V directly on the APM A0-A11 side rail ?

Or do I have to plug on the servo outputs and put JP1 back on ? I try not to have to put JP1 back on as I do not wnat to dismantle everything, it's such a pain.

(I have to replace the 3DR power module by an Attopilot current and votlage sensor, as my octo goes over 90 amps which is the 3DR component limit. Too bad 3DR does not have a more powerful power module for big crafts...maybe an idea for a next product ?).

Thx Bill & Iskess (i will use a 3S battery to power then my gimbal and APM) because the main battery will be 6S

Summary: connect UBEC to input side with jp1 open. Use another UBEC on output side if needed for servos.

Another idea: could i keep the 3DR module just to power the APM, thus benefiting from the power protection circuit, but using the attopilot to feed the motors and measure current and voltage?

You can supply the power to the A side if its only 5V. (Measure it, 5.5V is too high) but you do bypass the protection circuit for over voltage. So don't over voltage otherwise the baord is toast.
