I’m having a strange issue with my failsafe setup that I haven’t been able to figure out. Hopefully someone here will have an answer as to what is going on.
I’m using a Hitec Aurora 9X and have set up 6 modes using a 3 position switch and a 2 position switch. (1-Stabilize, 2-Loiter, 3-Alt Hold, 4-Position Hold, 5-Land, 6-RTL)
A separate switch (receiver channel 6 to input 6 on APM) is set up for failsafe with value set at 960.
The receiver has been programed for failsafe. In Mission Planner > Setup > Failsafe I have Failsafe options set to Enabled_always_RTL and battery failsafe enabled at 10.5.
While in Mission Planner > Setup > Failsafe If I flip the failsafe switch or turn off the transmitter Radio 6 drops to 965 as it should, however radio 5 jumps up to 1823 (mode 6) no matter what mode the transmitter is set to. The normal value for mode 6 is 1806. At the same time, on the right side of the screen, above the failsafe options, it displays whatever mode 6 is set to. I did have mode 6 set to land but because of what is happening I set it to RTL. If I set mode 6 to Acro it will display Acro and so on.
I have not tested failsafe in the air.
Im pretty sure this is not normal behavior. I’ve been racking my brain trying to see why this is happening but I just haven’t been able to figure it out. Is it a radio issue? Is it a setting in Mission Planner that I have missed?
Thanks in advance for any insight or help.
If my description of what is happening is confusing, I can try and make a video and post it.

Sounds like your transmitter is not set up to generate a failsafe PWM on Ch 5, so it's just going high when you turn if off.
