The further the radio is away from any other antenna the better. There is a limit of how far you can go due to voltage drops in the cable, but on a small aircraft it's not something to worry about.
The telemetry cable I did have with APM2.0 was double lenght comparing with APM2.5. I don't know a specific reason.
Usually I twist the telemetry cables and this help to avoid interference. If you made your own cable, you can add ferite rings (4 times passing), this will help also.
