I've had a couple instances when cutting the throttle did not stop the props. So I got some long thick gloves so I could unplug the batteries. (10" blades)
I've tried setting the throttle hold/cutoff switch, but it won't work. Sometimes it speeds things up a bit.
The apm has a min throttle setting of 13% for smooth startup by the ESC's, which probably is not the problem.
I'm finally going out for my first flight tomorrow! Months of studying, incorrect hookup of 2 of the ESCs found by taping the quad to a rotating lazy susan. Cool. No more flipping. I'll start worrying about landing tomorrow.
Any help on setting throttle cutoff would be appreciated. I'll tape it in place to avoid activation jn flight. :)

Bo,
Maybe it depends what flight mode you were in? The motors can only be stopped in Stabilize and Acro mode so if you were flying loiter you wouldn't be able to stop them. The only other times I've seen people unable to stop the props is if their radio is not calibrated properly, if they've set the RC3_DZ parameter to zero (i.e. purposely removed the deadband on the throttle channel) or had their APM crash (normally because of a bad power supply - try using the 3DR power module).
Best of luck.
