Well I now have the new Ublox gps mounted on my quad. I cut the trace on the 2.5 board and now connect the board to mission planner. Go to compass change it to external compass and go into flight data. under "my" and "mx" I see nothing happening but the 2 leds on the ublox are red solid and blue flashing.
Go back into compass and see its not changed for the little dot by external compass to none at all. Whats going on. If I disconnect the ublox gps/compass and turn the board on flight data the compass still moves but ive cut the trace on the board. Im so confused as to why.

I assume that you also have the compass cable from the GPS/compass module attached to the I2C port on the top of the APM?
If the outboard compass is not functional and you have cut the trace on the inboard compass, then the firmware uses the Az gyro as a compass that is why you still see the heading change.
What version of the MP are you using?

Now the next issue is now I cant connect it to mission planner and the 2 orange lights for TX and RX wont flash or flash now and then. Think its down to the poorly soldered/positioned usb port. its on the board at a slight angle. have contacted surport.
