Guided mode velocity and steering control

Hi everyone.  For about a year and a half, I've been working with Iris+ drones on projects involving computer vision, and pathfinding using genetic algorithms.  A couple of months ago, I decided to branch out and try a rover.  I bought an Axial SX10 and got it setup with a Pixhawk, uBlox, Taranis X9D with X8R receiver, and an Odroid XU4 computer.  It's the same setup as on one of our drones.  The plan is to run software on the XU4 to control the rover using Dronekit-Python.

This morning I got everything working so I decided to look at the MAVLink messages available for Rover and noticed that there are no messages that allow direct control of vehicle velocity and direction as in Copter.  This is essential for following an object based on its color, for example.  Are there plans to implement Guided mode messages that allow more direct control of the vehicle?  Thank you.
