Iris triggering Sony QX1 w/ CAMremote-2A

3691292097?profile=originalHey I'm back with a much needed update.
It's possible to trigger the Sony QX1 mirrorless lens-camera w/o using API calls to from the Remote SDK.

Think of this solution as a the good old analog way w/o out all the bells and whistles of using the camera's internal wifi to trigger. That is another tutorial and part of the setup is well documented here on Instructables by Jamie Machuca**.

Parts List

Sony QX1 Camera + lens of your choice (payload appropriate to Iris)

CAMremote-2A board + CR-Camera Multiterminal+USB Combo Cable for Sony Cameras

Follow along on the Arducopter Camera Trigger

Details

1. You have to supply power to CAMremote board bc the signal from the Pixhawk is too weak.
CAMremote can uses a broad range up to 12V.

2. You do not need to set up any settings in the CAMremote software if you are going to trigger it manually.
Read the support section for further details on different set ups. CAMremote w/ this cable can control shutter trigger, turn camera on/off, and activate focus.

3. The camera is the last thing to turn on in the series of all the pieces. Otherwise is doesn't listen to CAMremote commands.

Additional Work
- You may need to configure your CH7 option of your TX if it's not set up w/ it already.

- diy skills to install board & design/buy/make your own mount for QX1 to Iris.

**The QX1 is a bit of hybrid in that it can be triggered via cable or over wifi. It's up to you which way to go. I'm working toward it using API calls as well. This is great solution for aerial photography applications.
