Greetings,

I'm very new at flying with Iris, but after I land and move the control stick to the disarm position, I need to disconnect and reconnect the battery to fly again.

Is this common/expected?

Often I'll fly for 3-4 minutes, then need to check something, so I land, check things over, then want to take off again.  Nothing happens until I disconnect/reconnect the battery.

Ideas?

Thanks,

John

  • Oh just thought of something - you need to flip back to stabilize mode before re-arming if you were in any other mode. Safety feature. Hope that was it!!
    • I'm starting to wonder if that was it. I flew a full battery yesterday, and landed and disarmed at least 4 times. I was able to re-arm and launch each time without disconnecting the battery.
    • Thanks for the additional data.  I'll investigate further.  I was hoping to get out today for some test flights in the back yard, but by the time I charged the battery, it had started to rain.

I'll try to capture more information about the conditions when I need to unplug/replug the battery.

      Thanks!

  • John, I just got back from a flying field. Flew a dozen missions, some auto, some manual. After IRIS auto-landed on the auto missions, I took right back off from where it landed, sometimes disarming in between, sometimes not. I could not duplicate your condition. Not a help to you I know, but at least a solid data point as you troubleshoot. Good luck.
  • Since you didn't mention it I'll ask - are you re-arming IRIS, or trying to? "Nothing happens" - no lights, no sounds, no movement?

    • Correct - I'm trying to re-arm IRIS, and I see no lights, no sound and no movement until I disconnected and reconnect the battery.

This does not happen all the time, but more than half of the time.

Here are the steps I'm following:

      1) Fly

      2) Land IRIS

      3) Move left stick to lower left to disarm motors

      4) Press safety button

--- do other things for minute or so (leaving transmitter on)

      5) Press safety button - get solid red light

6)Get blinking blue or blinking green LED, depending on mode  (sometimes i get yellow here, and I do disconnect battery as suggested in the IRIS manual)

      7) At this point I attempt to arm by moving the left stick to the lower right -- and I get nothing, unless I disconnect and reconnect the battery.  I'd say this happens about 60% of the time.

      Thanks,

      John

    • Hmmmmmm I'm stumped then. I just followed this exact same procedure yesterday, and did not need to do anything oer than what you did. Battery stayed connected. I drop down and check on things a lot, so I know this works. I'm not a log guru, so hopefully somebody else here can help you look at those? Sorry I can't help.
  • I've only been flying for two days, but I've never had to do this to get back into the air, other then a crash.

I did notice though I wasn't holding it long enough down-right to get it rearmed and sometime forgot which direction was the arming direction. Also be sure if you pressed the disarm button on-top of the IRIS you rearm it that way again.

    That's just my experience though,
