Updating MAVProxy waypoints mid-flight

In the discussion "In Flight mission Plan" (http://diydrones.ning.com/forum/topics/in-flight-mission-plan), Andrew Tridgell was saying how adding new waypoints in MAVProxy was possible for ArduPlane, but not ArduCopter. I was curious if that has since been updated and it's now possible to do so?

I want to be able to simply add new waypoints mid-flight using MAVProxy. If what Tridge was saying still holds true (only working for ArduPlane) is there any way around it for ArudCopter, allowing me to add waypoints mid-flight?
