Hoping someone can help me here. I am trying to get OSD onto the video stream from my X-5 wing. I have done some searches but can’t seem to find a wiring diagram for my specific components. I have the following:

Fatshark video camera

Immersion RC Video TX

Pixhawk FC

MiniM OSD

To start with, everything was fine when I connected the video camera directly to video TX – video imagery looks great. I then cut the cable between the VTX and camera and attached 3 pin servo-type plugs to each end and tried to run it via the OSD but I get nothing (just lines/dots on the screen). To be sure the plugs are good, I connected them directly to each other (via a y-lead) and video is good.

The closest wiring diagram I could find is the one off APM Copter (as attached) the only difference being the power supply: My video TX has a power in connection which I connect straight to the battery balance lead (3S). The VTX feeds out 5V so I assume the battery connection shown in the diagram is not needed.

To confirm, I do have the special cable plugged into Pixhawk Telem 2 port and I get 2 blue flashing LEDs on the MiniM OSD. Just no video/telemmetry at all.I also tried to enable telemetry in the setup in Mission Planner but that did nothing.

Do I perhaps need to bridge/solder jumper on the minim board?

Thanks in advance.

  • I believe the MinimOSD is not compatible with the camera. After pluging it all together, try unplugging, and plug back in the camera, sometimes that brings up the overlay.
Actually I think you are dealing with several issues at the same time, and it will be tough to troubleshoot with a camera that is not known to work with the Minimosd. Are you sure both sides of the Minimosd are powered? This can be done by soldering a jumper or applying power to the analog video pins directly. If you use the jumper method, you still need the ground wire with the video wire. Here is a great camera that is known to work and can be part of your workbench test Kit (it needs 12v). http://www.securitycamera2000.com/products/600TVL-SONY-SUPER-HAD-CC...
